chevron_rightShould I register for a pool pass to enjoy the facility?
Yes. Pool passes are required to enjoy the facility. You may register at the management office.

chevron_rightWhat is the pool schedule?
In general the pool is open from 11:00am to 8:00pm Sunday through Saturday during full time hours. The hours of operation are subject to weather conditions and the availability of pool attendants. We attempt to open the pool on a limited basis near the Memorial Day Holiday. A full time opening should occur by mid to late June. Closing of the pool occurs in early September.

chevron_rightWhat are the pool rules and regulations?
Pool rules are posted at the pool for your convenience.
In general we ask you to present your pool pass to the attendant upon arrival and sign the log-in sheet. Your guests are also asked to sign the log-in sheet. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please note pool attendants are attendants only and are not certified life guards. Adult supervision is always encouraged.

chevron_rightMay I rent the clubhouse for a personal event or party?
Absolutely. We encourage residents to enjoy this facility throughout the year. Please contact the management office for details and availability.

chevron_rightAre tennis court, bocce ball court, and horse shoe pit reservations required?
Our new tennis court, bocce ball court, and horse shoe pit amenities are currently available on a first come - first serve basis. We request play be limited to one hour if other residents are waiting to participate. Further information is available at the courts.

chevron_rightDo residents and their guests have access to common ground areas to participate in games such as football, soccer, volleyball, etc.?
Yes. Residents may enjoy our open ground areas for various activities. We ask that everyone respect the condition of our common grounds. Please refrain from any sporting activities on our local roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks to ensure personal safety. Some activities such as baseball or golf are prohibited in most all areas due to safety precautions. All persons are responsible for their own injury risk.

chevron_rightMay I display exterior seasonal decorations such as wreaths, holiday lighting, and other appropriate items?
Of course. Be festive and creative and help enhance the spirit of America's Holidays.
We do ask all seasonal decorations be removed shortly after the specific Holiday season.

chevron_rightMay I install a satellite dish television system?
Yes. A written request to the Board and approval is required prior to installation. Installations must be conducted by a licensed provider and adhere to proper installation regulations.

You may place your payment in the silver drop box located near the front entrance area, bring your payment directly to the on-site office (which includes an additional drop box for your convenience), or mail payments to:

Common charges are due by the 1st of each month. A late fee will be accessed if payment is received after the 20th of the month.

chevron_rightWhat are the Sterling Village pet rules?
Many of our residents enjoy the companionship of their cats and dogs (a limit of two in total is requested). Additional indoor pets are also allowed, but please consult the management office for further regulations.
We do ask all dog owners to promptly pick up after their pet, including in fenced in backyard areas, as a courtesy and safety concern for residents and our maintenance crew. Additionally dogs should be leashed at all times when enjoying outdoor activities.

chevron_rightWho should I contact if I suspect suspicious behavior or a potential criminal/violent situation?
Please contact the Local Police Department and/or call 911. Please contact the police first; you may also choose to report the activity to your Board Members.

Yes you may. We respect privacy concerns.

chevron_rightCan I be fined for condominium violations? If so what are the possible consequences?
Sterling Village prefers to send written warnings informing residents of potential violations and educating residents with regard to community living and respect for all neighbors. Repeat offenders may be subjected to various fines as a final option. Our goal is to maintain a harmonious living environment for all residents.

Registered voters may cast their votes at Israel Putnam Elementary School. Sterling Village is considered part of the 83rd voting district.

Real Estate taxes are due on the first of January, April, July, and October of each year.
Motor Vehicle taxes are due on the first of July of each year.

chevron_rightWhen are Board meetings held?
Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:00 pm. Some exceptions apply due to Holidays and summer schedules. Please consult the front entrance sign for exceptions or contact the office.

chevron_rightWhen are Board Member elections held?
Board Members are elected in October of each year. On even numbered years two positions are open for election. On odd numbered years three positions are open for election.

chevron_rightWhat are the responsibilities of the Sterling Village maintenance staff?
In general the maintenance staff is responsible for all common ground upkeep (lawn mowing, snow removal, tree and shrub trimming, etc.) In addition exterior building maintenance such as painting/repairing of condominium units, backyard fences and decks, front porches, etc. is the responsibility of Sterling Village.
Maintenance of most all exterior improvements installed by current or previous unit owners (such as deck extensions, patios, gardens, flower beds, etc.) is the unit owners responsibility.
All interior maintenance/repair (including windows, doors, plumbing, electrical, etc.) is the unit owners responsibility.

chevron_rightWhat are the trash pickup procedures?
General trash is picked up twice per week. Trash may be placed in plastic bags or appropriate trash containers in designated areas the morning of pickup.
Recycling pickup is twice per month. Recyclable materials should be placed in plastic pail or bin containers, cardboard containers, or paper bags in designated areas the morning of pickup. Please do not place recyclable material in plastic bags of any kind. Our current recycling refuse company (Tony's Trucking) will accept glass/plastics # 1-7, metal and aluminum food cans, paper products, and cut and compacted cardboard, cereal boxes, and other like items. Recyclable regulations are subject to change per State and Local laws. Please consult our current recycling refuse company for updates on allowable items.
General trash is collected on every Monday and Thursday morning. Recycling pickup is collected every other Monday of the month. Variations in trash collection days will apply on certain Holidays. Please visit our Calendar feature (or Newsletter) for specific collection dates (and view the front entrance sign for notifications pertaining to Holiday trash pick up schedules).
Bulky trash, such as furniture, mattresses, building materials, etc. are not allowed in the general trash pickup and are the responsibility of the unit owner to discard through private providers.
Electronics (such as computers, laptops, tablets, stereo equipment, cell phones, televisions, etc.) should never be discarded in the general trash. Additionally, items such as expired batteries, oil based paints or solvents, and other hazardous materials require specialized disposal per the City of Meriden protocols.
Sterling Village does offer a Christmas tree disposal service for your convenience.

Interior/Exterior renovations

chevron_rightMay I replace my windows, storm door, and patio door? If so what are the proper procedures and requirements?
Yes. Residents should submit a written request to the Board seeking approval prior to installation. All installations need to conform to our current style and color and be installed by a licensed contractor.

chevron_rightAre City building permits required to install new windows and doors?
Building permits are not necessary. Please consult the management office for further regulations.

chevron_rightAre building permits required to install a new furnace, AC unit, or water heater?
No. A licensed contractor must complete these installations and provide proof of insurance to the office. Please consult the office for additional advice.

chevron_rightDo I require Board approval to conduct inside home improvement projects?
No, however some home improvement projects may require a City building permit, licensed contractor, and proof of insurance.

chevron_rightDo I require City building permits to conduct home improvement projects, such as finishing a basement, renovating a kitchen or bath, etc.?
Please consult with Meriden Town Hall for proper permit regulations. Some basement areas are considered limited common areas. Please contact the office for clarification if you are considering a basement renovation.

chevron_rightMay I install an awning above my rear sliding door?
Yes. Please contact the office for approval, installation specifications, and additional information. Awnings are considered seasonal and may only be used from April through October.

chevron_rightAm I able to upgrade my backyard area (within the confines of the fence) without soliciting the Board's approval?
In general yes, unless your project includes an additional or extended secured deck area, which would require Board approval and a City building permit. Maintenance of all exterior improvements/additions is the responsibility of the unit owner.

chevron_rightAre there any restrictions on the types of flowers I may plant in my front or rear garden areas?
Residents may plant most annual and perennial flowers, with some exceptions. Please note the maintenance of flower beds is the responsibility of the homeowner.

chevron_rightMay I plant vegetables in my front or rear garden?
Planting of vegetables is only allowed in backyard gardens within the confines of your fenced-in area. Please properly maintain your plantings and take proper precautions to prevent animal infestation.

chevron_rightTo what degree do I need the Board's approval to upgrade my front garden?
Residents are asked to submit a letter to the Board stating their intentions. We suggest landscaping projects and plantings conform to approved guidelines as provided by the office.

chevron_rightWhat are the approved species of shrubs allowed in our Village?
Please contact the management office for approved planting requirements.

chevron_rightWhat are the Meriden/Sterling Village ordinances with regard to construction noise (start and end times) when potentially disturbing construction is being conducted?
Please consult the Meriden Town Hall for specific ordinances. We do suggest you always be considerate and respectful to your neighbors when undertaking construction projects.

chevron_rightCan I acquire stain and or paint from property management if I wish to paint my porch or deck?
Yes. Please contact the office with your request and the maintenance staff will kindly fulfill your needs.
